Words That Move You Forward or Hold You Back

The words you choose to say or think have a significant impact on every moment of every day. They affect whether you feel positive or negative, strong or weak, certain or doubtful, confident or tentative. They can inspire or insult, inform or confuse, please or anger. Words can either move you forward or hold you back.

Words That Move You Forward:

The single words that open and close doors are “Hello” and “Goodbye”.                                    The two most memorable and meaningful words are “Thank You”.                                            The three most energetic and enthusiastic words are “What an Opportunity!”.                The four most useful and courageous words are “I Need Your Help”.                                             The five most generous and thoughtful words are “How Can I Help You?”.                               The six most exciting and excellent words are “I Want to Work With You”.

Words That Hold You Back:

These phrases keep you stuck in the same place, wasting time and achieving nothing.              “I Can’t”; “I Don’t Know”; “I Am Right, You Are Wrong”; I Win, You Lose”; “No Way”.

So as you start a new week and a new month, think about how these words and phrases can change your attitude toward yourself and others. Choose words that move you forward rather than ones that hold you back. Think about the difference your words can make in the lives of each and every individual that you encounter over the next seven and thirty days. Find ways to communicate the words that move you forward by text, e-mail, phone or in person so that they can then help others move forward. Avoid using the words that hold you or others back. Watch how much more positive, present, prosperous and productive you will find yourself at the end of this week and at the end of this month.

Have a motivating, memorable, and magnificent May!
